Exercising with a medical condition

I am qualified as a Level 3 GP Exercise Referral Personal Trainer

What this means – If you have been diagnosed with a medical condition your GP or other health professional may suggest an exercise referral as a way of improving your health. By working with a personal trainer who specialises in exercise referral you can be sure that training is appropriate to your medical needs and starting level of fitness.

Both physical and mental health conditions affect our confidence and ability, however, there is always something we will be able to do. Exercising has a profound effect on our mind and body and by incorporating some exercise into your life, in a safe and effective way, we can take steps to help improve your health.

Please note that I am not qualified to give out medical advice and all my recommendations will be around incorporating physical activity into your life to help manage your health conditions.

Having a medical diagnosis, a genetic disposition to a health condition or knowing that your lifestyle is leading you down the path of future health problems can make it feel difficult to know where to start with exercising.

We are all leading much more sedentary lifestyles, and it’s no secret that this is bad for our health.

Regardless of your age or diagnosis, there is strong scientific evidence which shows that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life. Not only does it reduce our risk of developing many long term and chronic conditions, but evidence shows that we can prevent our health from deteriorating further, boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
